Managing your weight during the holidays

The first thing to keep in mind when tempted with delicious holiday treats is your daily protein intake.

Make sure you have a good protein for breakfast and skip the sugary options. Protein will  keep you feeling full for a longer time, and keep your blood sugar levels stable so that you don't crave something sweet all day long.A delicious and filling protein breakfast could include a veggie omelette, a protein shake with at least 15 grams of protein, or steel cut oats with quinoa and either soy or almond milk.

Try to  avoid bread over the next few weeks. You'll have plenty of other options that will give you your required carbohydrates.  Instead, have adequate amounts of protein for lunch and supper as well. Fill your plate with salad and veggies and by the time dessert comes around you will be fairly full. Then, you can enjoy the sweets, but will definately not overindulge in it!

Don't forget to drink lots of water as well. Be conscious of your alcohol consumption and remember they all have sugar in them. For every alcoholic beverage, drink 2 glasses of water.

Take a pass on the treats in your doggie bag. Instead,  take home the veggies and proteins. If you are hosting, send the treats home with your guests.

Remember to enjoy your meals and your time with your family and friends. Just return to your healthy habits the next day and avoid bread and refined carbohydrates for the next week.

Some of the supplements I recommend during this time are:

  • Fat grabbers - eliminates and prevents the excess fat you consume from being stored in your body
