Applied Kinesiology
Applied kinesiology is a method of both diagnosis and treatment of a variety of health problems using muscular reactions as the primary measure. Kinesiology tests muscular reactions at various points on the body to different tests. Muscle testing includes placing certain allergens on the body, analyzing a client’s gait, and manipulating joints and muscles.
Applied Kinesiology Puts Theory Into Practice
Kinesiology is the study of human movement with emphasis on the muscles and joints of course. Applied kinesiology puts theory into practice and refers to the natural and holistic diagnosis of general health based on muscle responses to stimuli. The particular stimulus used depends on the purpose of the testing.
Applied kinesiology evaluates health holistically and not just from a physical viewpoint. The muscles in the body respond to things such as allergens by weakening. An experienced practitioner is able to identify the points of weakness which then leads to a diagnosis of the energy flow blockage creating the physical ailment.
The holistic approach can be appreciated in two different ways. First it the fact that the body’s Qi in each of the energy meridians in the body cannot be blocked in order to achieve physical and mental balance. Second is the important understanding that treatment may incorporate a variety of strategies that include mental relaxation, muscle manipulation, nutritional counseling and so on.
Resisting the Imbalance
The client is asked to resist a specific force and the muscle response is evaluated. The force may be actual pressure or manipulation or it may be a food vial that comes in contact with certain meridian points to identify allergens. In other words, the force used during diagnosis is not a strength test using weights.
Muscles are an integral component of the entire physical system. The body contains a number of meridians through which important Qi energy flows. The meridians directly affect muscle and joint functioning, which means when any channel is blocked or in imbalance, the muscles will be impacted.
Therefore, it only makes sense to test muscle responsiveness to various stimuli with the response indicating the meridian needing improved energy flow. The goal is to identify the body’s energy imbalance that is causing illnesses such as allergies, weight gain, stress, and even organ and system problems. A specific muscle is tested one at a time with the test designed to limit the influence of surrounding muscles. Learn more about muscle testing.
The goal is to release any stagnated Qi flows and restore the body’s functioning to efficient levels. This natural method of diagnosis has brought important relief to many people who have been dissatisfied with the results of traditional medicine. Once the problem is diagnosed, a number of alternative treatments can then be used to correct the imbalance in addition to muscle manipulation in the practice of kinesiology.
